Mary Ann George Speas went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 29, 2024. She died peacefully surrounded by her family. Mary Ann was born in Cumberland, VA on February 19, 1935. She was preceded in death by her father Mark M. George, mother Inez Collins George, and her husband of 62 years Roy S. Speas. She was also preceded in death by her sister Mildred Huskey, her brother Tupper George and her great granddaughter Monroe Ingram.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughter Vicki Speas Caldwell and her husband, Mike, two sons, David Jeffrey Speas and his wife Carole and Jon Sterling Speas and his wife Stacie. She had 8 grandchildren, Holland Caldwell Hamrick and her husband Lance, Micah Caldwell and his wife Heather, Meagan Speas Ingram and her husband Thomas, Stephen Speas, Jonathan Speas and his wife Kaitlyn, Natalie Speas Barnes and her husband Shawn, Chad Speas and Michael Speas. She also had two great grandchildren Sterling Caldwell and Walker Ingram, a brother Stuart George and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary Ann was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Stanley where she was an active member and loved singing in the choir. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Grand Matron. Mary Ann worked for H.M. Craig Metal and later was a sales representative for Niagara of Stanley. Mary Ann loved nothing more than to spend time with her grandchildren and having family eating around the table.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church Stanley, 409 Old Mt. Holly Road on Friday, February 2nd. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00 PM at the church with Michael Speas officiating.
