In addition to her mother and her mother's fur baby Tigger, those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 42 years Barney Cannon; a son James Cannon and his wife Ashley; two grandchildren Cameran and Carson Cannon; a brother Mitch Melton and his wife Catina; their fur babies Roxey and Snickers; a niece Samantha Evans and spouse; two nephews Chris Black and spouse, and Marcus Black and spouse; her mother-in-law Joan Cannon; as well as her special friend who was like a sister, Pam Smith. The family will greet guests from 2:00 until 3:30 Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Fairview Baptist Church, 1706 W. Davidson Avenue in Gastonia. A service to celebrate Melissa's life will be held immediately following at 3:30, also at the church.
