Nina Frances Saunders Mayfield, 84, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at her home in Stanley, following a long illness. She was born in Pax, West Virginia, daughter of the late Rev. George Babern and Betty Bowyer Saunders. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Denise Mayfield Burgess; a sister, Dora Brinn; and brothers, Billy and Roy Saunders.
Nina loved her family with all of her heart. She was an avid reader and enjoyed painting and photography. She also enjoyed gardening in her yard when she was physically able to do so.
Nina is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Alonzo A. Mayfield; her children, Debbie Stover Stone, Patricia Ann Goshorn, Tammy Mayfield Laub (Ken), Lora Mayfield Jones (Mike), Rich Stover (Gloria), Terry Stover (Mary), and Timothy M. Mayfield; brothers, Louis Saunders and George Saunders; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate Nina's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 6 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly.
