Phyllis Helms Hawley, 81, died peacefully on August 31, 2018 at the Robin Johnson Hospice House. She was born in Lincoln County, daughter of the late Frank D. and Emma Lewis Helms, and was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 5 sisters. She graduated from Lincolnton High School where she was named to the Allstate Girls Basketball team. She is a member of Christ’s Lutheran Church in Stanley.

Survivors include her husband William R. “Bill” Hawley, her children Prissy Helms and husband Johnny, Royce Hawley and wife Nela, Shelley Bolt and husband Jimmy, grandchildren Sean Helms, Christian Hawley, Nicholas Bolt, and Victoria Hawley, a chosen daughter Terri Hedrick, and a sister Pearl Helms.

The funeral service conducted by Pastor Wesley Frye will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday September 4 at Christ’s Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
