Reggie Dean Whitesides

Reggie Dean Whitesides, age 78, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday December 13, 2022.  He was born in Gaston County and was the son of the late Neil Whitesides and Edith Stone.  Reggie Loved his family, and especially cherished family gatherings and holidays when everyone came together.  His true passion was sports.  He played travel softball for many years, and also enjoyed watching football and baseball.  In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and could also be found at Tony's Ice Cream where he was a regular.  Reggie enjoyed attending Flint Groves Baptist Church where he loved and served the Lord.  He always enjoyed seeing his fellow classmates at their class reunions for Flint Groves School.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Derrick Whitesides, his maternal grandmother Gertrude Porter Watts, his stepfather Frank Stone, and his brother Dennis Whitesides and wife Linda.  Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years Doris Barton Whitesides; his daughter Regina King (Caleb), his brother Richard Strange (Helen), his niece Paula Santinelli, his grandchildren: Preston, Chloe, Journey, Parker, and Raelyn; as well as his great nephews Eli and Avery.  A private graveside service will be held at Hollywood Cemetery.
