Reginald Auten Obituary

Reginald Dixon Auten, 68, of Longs, SC, passed in peace in the comfort of his own home on October 31, 2019.

Reggie is survived by his children, Shane Lytton and family of Anderson, SC, daughters, Miranda Auten, Ashley Phillips and husband Coty; five grandchildren, Skylar Joyner, Riley Joyner, Peyton Joyner, Cass Phillips and Addley Phillips; sister, Ginger Basham and husband Tim; brother, Dean Auten; and numerous nieces and nephews all of Gaston County, NC. Reggie is preceded in death by his beloved son, Derek Auten, and parents, Boyce and Virginia Auten.

Reggie was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, having served during the Vietnam War as a demolitions expert with the 65th Engineering Battalion of the 25th Infantry Division, where he earned a National Defense Service medal and campaign medal with W-60 device.

Reggie grew up in Mt. Holly, NC. He enjoyed playing golf with friends, was an avid and talented carpenter, and very proud father.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of South Carolina for all their kindness and compassion, as well as his dear friend, Dennis Keane, whom was always there for him.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm until 3:45 pm on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly. The visitation will be followed by a short memorial tribute, to include military honors, at 3:45 pm. Condolence messages may be sent to the family by visiting www.woodlawnfuneral.org.
