Robbie Lafay Lineberger Koone, 76, of Mount Holly, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021 in Huntersville, NC.

Memorial service is being planned for a later date. Arrangements are by Woodlawn in Mount Holly.

Robbie was born in Salisbury, North Carolina, to Pearl Lineberger on Easter Sunday April 9, 1944. She graduated from Boydon High School in Salisbury. She married Ernest Blanton Koone on September 4, 1965 in York, South Carolina. She graduated with her undergraduate degree in biology from Appalachian State University and a Masters in counseling from UNCC. Robbie worked as a guidance counselor for Gaston County schools, and eventually retired from there. She was involved in various duties, committees and programs at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, assisted the Girl Scouts, played bridge regularly, delivered Meals on Wheels.

Robbie loved her family and friends. She opened her kitchen to share meals and gather with her friends and family constantly. Loving all the holidays and other people’s birthdays, she always mailed cards and baked cakes for her friends along with sharing so many delicious holiday baked goods. Robbie loved music and played the piano at home regularly. She was an avid reader and loved to share her books with friends. Blowing Rock and the mountains, in general, was her favorite place to visit.

Robbie is preceded in death by her mother, Pearl.

Robbie is survived by her husband of 55 years Ernest Koone, her three children: Elizabeth and Chris Smith, Susan Browning, David and Dawn Koone. Her grandchildren: Brent and KC Jones, Zachary Smith, Jacob Browning, Victoria and Cody Blythe. Anthony and Josh Starnes. Great-Grandchildren: Kamden Jones, Braxton and Briar Blythe, Rosalee, Lee, Franklin Starnes.

Memorials may be given to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Mount Holly. The family of Robbie wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the staff that took such compassionate care of her.
