Robert Junior Cook

Robert Junior Cook, age 90 passed away at Woodlawn Haven Assisted Living in Mt. Holly, N.C on October 12, 2018.   He was a resident of Denver, North Carolina.  He was born in Bladen County, son of the late Robert Cecil and Ada Gibson Cook. 

Robert is preceded in death by his loving wife Marian Frances Gentry Cook, daughter Barbara Cook York, son Tony Michael Cook, grandson Jason Ryan York, two brothers Ben " Sonny Boy" Cook and Morris Cook.  

Those left to cherish his memory include his two daughters Faye Cook Zarins and her husband Juris of Denver, Cathy Cook Dyer and the late Randy Dyer of Stanley, N.C,  daughter-in-law Christy Black Cook and the late Tony Cook of Iron Station, N.C. Grandchildren Travis Zarins and wife Jennifer, Todd Zarins and wife Carla, Jennifer York and Rick Bingham, Amy Finnacannon and husband Joe, Anna Shields and husband Jeremy, and Nicholas "Nick" Dyer, as well as 5 great grand children and 6 great-great grandchildren. Loving sisters Pauline Schaub, Jeanette Smith, Wanda Bass, and Pam Sessoms.

After growing up on his family's tobacco farm and having a farm of his own he followed his passion to drive a truck.  He lived in Mt. Holly for 40 years, later moving to Denver to be near his children.  Robert was a truck driver for Sodyeco for almost 30 years where he retired and continued his dedication to drive for American Efird where he retired twice at age 76.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Salem United Methodist Church, 378 N. Pilot Knob Road, Denver, N.C.  The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to Salem United Methodist Church or Novant Health Hospice, P.O. Box 33549, Charlotte, N.C. 28233.

Psalms 4:8 - “In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.
