Sarah (Reese) Gilliland

Sarah "Susie" Reese Gilliland, 79, of Gastonia, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia. She was born in Gaston County to the late Robert Lee Reese and Alda Mitchum Reese. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Earl Ray Gilliland, daughter, Jennifer Farmer, son, Michael Gilliland, and grandson, Josh Gilliland. She was owner/operator of Gilliland's Place in Springwood. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Earl Lee Gilliland (Jackie), Steve Gilliland, and Barbara G. Mims (Darren); grandchildren, Brittney, Emily, Belle, Diddle, Tyler, Brittany, Brianna, Jessica, and Ricky; great grandchildren, McKenzie, Katilyn, Luke, Jesse, Jimmy, Grace, Emry, and Calee; her siblings, Bob, Zeb, and David Reese, and Edna Phillips; and her sister-in-law Sue Skidmore. The family will greet guests from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2021 at Sharon Free Will Baptist Church, 410 Reese Street, Gastonia, and at other times at the home, 424 Reese Street, Gastonia. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, also at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
