Shirley (Weaver) Bynum

Shirley Weaver Bynum passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the age of 88. Shirley was born in Gastonia, NC, daughter of the late Gilbert Zero and Mona Lura Joy Weaver. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Roland Bynum; brothers, Nick and Ted Weaver, and sister, Joy Oveda Weaver Yor.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Cid Bynum, and four grandchildren, Michael, Morgan, Lauren, and Rebecca.

Shirley retired from the school system as a student counselor at Hawksnest Elementary. She achieved a Masters degree in education, and over her life served in the school system across the state of North Carolina as a teacher, principal, vice principal, school bus driver, and much more. She also loved the piano, and played for many church services, weddings, and celebrations.  A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday April 23, 2024 at First Methodist Church in Mount Holly.
