Shirley Jane (Long) Whitman

Shirley Jane Long Whitman, 61, of Mount Holly, died Monday, January 29, 2018 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.  She was born in Mecklenburg County to the late John Wesley Long and Mary Jane Prince Long.  Shirley was the former owner of Shirley's Restaurant on Main Street in Belmont for 20 years.  She will be loved and missed dearly by her family.  Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Fred Lee Whitman; two daughters Stefanie Whitman Mullins and Freda Whitman Reno; a grandson Tyler Andrew Reno; a niece Heather Hickman Taylor; a nephew Jeremy Hickman; and two great nieces Hayley Taylor and Ashton Taylor.  A service to celebrate her life will be held 7pm Friday, February 2, 2018 in the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly.  The family will greet guests for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the funeral home to assist the family with Shirley's final expenses.
