Jerry Wayne Oglesby, Sr.

Jerry Wayne Oglesby, Sr., age 78, passed away at home on Wednesday, January 10, 2018. He was born in Gaston County, son of the late Alfred T. Oglesby and Lola Keever Oglesby.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Margaret Ann O. Helms, Barbara O. Riggins; a brother Ted Oglesby; a son Jerry Wayne Oglesby, Jr.; and a grandson Donnie Bradshaw.  Mr. Oglesby was a member of Lighthouse Full Gospel Church of Mt. Holly.  Survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife Barbara Funderburk Oglesby; three daughters Dee Yarborough, Kathy Oglesby, Linda O. Haynes and husband Dan Haynes; daughter in law Crystal Oglesby; grandchildren Patrick W. Oglesby, Chad Johnson, Justin Johnson, Ryan Payseur, Ronnie Henson, Jr., Jason Henson, Katie Angley, Wayne Bridges, Heather Willis, Lindsey Bowman, Troy Yarborough, Jeremy Webber, Philip Grogan, Kenny Grogan; 27 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; as well as 4 nephews and 3 nieces.  A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Lighthouse Full Gospel Church, 530 N. Hawthorne Street in Mt. Holly, officiated by the Rev. Herman Winkler.  The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 pm prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be private at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia.  The Oglesby family would like to thank Catawba County Hospice for their care and support.
