Ruth Drumm Grier, age 91, died on Sunday, December 24 in Levine & Dickson Hospice House, surrounded by her family. She was born in Mount Holly to Clarence and Allie May Drumm, one of five children. Ruth worked at Charlie’s Drugstore in Mount Holly for many years as one of Charlie’s Angels. She also volunteered for the Community Relief Organization (CRO) of Mount Holly up until last year. For her many years of service, Ruth received the honor of Woman of the Year in Mount Holly in 2003. She has been an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church since childhood, where she especially enjoyed singing in the choir. Ruth was preceded by her husband of 50 years, William Grier.
Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her son William “Bill” (fiancé Beth), grandson Zach (Lauren), and her siblings Jack, Jim (Pat), and Doris.
Visitation will be held at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Mount Holly at 1:00 PM pm with the the funeral service at 2:00 PM with Rev. Roger Storms officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Ruth may be made to the Community Relief Organization (CRO), 2120 Spring St., Mount Holly, NC 28120. Ruth requested that in lieu of flowers, shoes would be donated to the CRO. Woodlawn Funeral Home of Mount Holly is serving the Grier family.
