On Monday, December 25, 2017, Claude J. Stilwell, age 82, went home to be with the Lord. He was born in Gaston County to the late Claude Franklin Stilwell and Mary Helton Stilwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Mildred Stilwell Nixon and a brother Charles David Stilwell. Claude spent his career working for A&P Company, Lee Boy's and Lincoln County Schools. He was a passionate Nascar fan and thoroughly enjoyed working in his yard and garden; especially riding his lawn mower, but most of all, he had a tremendous love for his family. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Geraldine, of 60 years; his son Tim Stilwell (Shirley) and daughter Robin Keep (Randy); grandchildren Stacy Dishman (Troy), Stephen Stilwell (Kate Fesperman), Brandi Weddle (Josh), Randy Beard, Jr. (Lauren); step grandchildren Matthew Keep, Tabitha Laursen, Timothy Laursen, C.J. Crouse; great grandchildren Cooper Beard, Kason Weddle, Sawyer Stilwell; step great grandchildren River Bare, Brayden Keep, Canyon Bare, Karsyn Keep; sister Ruth Stilwell Dellinger; brother Guy Stilwell. A service to celebrate his life will be held 12 pm Friday, December 29, 2017 in the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, also at the funeral home.
