Ernest "Peewee" D. Smith

Ernest "Peewee" D. Smith went to be with the Lord on November 24, 2017.  He was the son of the late Roy M. Smith and the late Vina Lee Darby Smith.  He is survived by his wife of 50 years - Peggy Smith; sons Scott (Kelly) of Mt. Holly and Jason (Joy) of Sanford; a granddaughter Regan and a grandson Aiden-Connor of Sanford; a sister Dot Henry of Jacksonville, Florida; a cousin Barbara Long of Avon Park, Florida; his dog Toby; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Pete Smith of Jacksonville, Florida, and Bill Smith of Belmont; and a sister Jenny Wedland of Lincolnton.  Mr. Smith was an active member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Mt. Holly.  He also served in the United States Marine Corp.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 PM Monday, November 27, 2017 in the Magnolia Room at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mt. Holly.  A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at First Free Will Baptist Church, 841 Noles Drive in Mt. Holly.  A burial with military honors will conclude at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mt. Holly.  Condolence messages may be sent to the family by visiting www.woodlawnfuneral.org.
