Mildred Elizabeth (Helton) Summey

Mildred Elizabeth Helton Summey, 92, of Gastonia, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 25, 2017 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.  She was born in Gaston County to the late James Helton and Mollie Weathers Helton.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James, two brothers Fred and Robert Helton, and two sisters Violet Saunders and Gloria Brown.  Mildred retired after 41 years of service at the Lineberger, Perfection, and Parkdale Mills.  She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother aka "GrandNana".  She was a life-long member of Centerview Baptist Church.  Those left to cherish her memory include her children Linda Bolin and husband Dennis of Gastonia, James M. Summey, Jr. and wife Myra of Gastonia, Rita Dulin and husband Mike of Bowling Green, SC, Thomas Summey and wife Nancy of Stanley; grandchildren Denise Bolin, Brian Summey and wife Amy, John Bolin, Christopher Summey, Jennifer McQuay and husband Ben, Ryan Summey and wife Michelle; great grandchildren Anthony Bolin and wife Heather, Catherine Summey, Hatsue McQuay, John Thomas McQuay, Alexander Summey, Lillian Summey; a sister Willie Robinson of Apex; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  A funeral service to celebrate Mildred's life will be held Noon Friday, December 29, 2017 at Centerview Baptist Church, 2300 Acme Road, Belmont.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, also at the church. Interment will follow the service at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Centerview Baptist Church.  Condolence messages may be sent to the family by visiting www.woodlawnfuneral.org.
