Welcome to the memorial page for

Ralph Gene Coleman "Dutch"

August 7, 1943 ~ December 6, 2017 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Ralph Gene “Dutch” Coleman, 74, died on December 6, at home surrounded by his beloved family.  He was most fondly known as daddy, dad, and Papaw Ralph.  Receiving of friends will be held 11:30 AM Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Stanley Pentecostal Holiness Church, 113 E. Parkwood Street in Stanley followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 12:30 PM at the church and then a graveside service at Hillcrest Gardens.  Mr. Coleman is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth McClure Coleman; daughter Sherry Coleman Moore and husband Jeff; son, Kevin Todd Coleman and wife Tracy; his grandchildren Justin Ottinger, Tucker Moore, Torey Tome and husband Zach; and great granddaughter Avery Lynn.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who love him dearly.  He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Gene Coleman; parents, Mary and Frank Coleman; brothers Bob, Buck, Jerry, Leonard; and sisters Irene and Leona.  Mr. Coleman was raised on a farm in Charlotte and there began his love of the great outdoors.  This love followed him all the days of his life and was passed on to his children.  Mr. Coleman served as a Chaplain’s assistant in the United States Navy on the USS Intrepid until November 20, 1963.  Upon returning home from service, Mr. Coleman moved to Gaston county where he worked and raised his family.  He was raised Master Mason on March 24, 1967.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, country roads, wildlife, and music.  He dearly loved each pet he ever had with the most recent being his little buddy Oobie.  He was always so content and thankful for everything he had and spent his last days talking of how blessed he was.  His greatest outdoor joy was fishing with his last fishing trip being with his son Todd in May.  We are grateful that he enjoyed this pastime up until his last days.  His love of music was his other passion and the gift he passed on to his daughter.  Above all else, he gave us all unconditional love.  A love that we will cherish and celebrate.  It’s not goodbye, it’s see ya later…..we love you!  In lieu of flowers, please send gifts to the Food Pantry at First United Methodist Church in Stanley.  Condolence messages may be sent to the family by visiting www.woodlawnfuneral.org. Woodlawn Funeral Home of Mount Holly is serving the family.
